Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Bowie, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per Diem (days vary), 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, evening shift

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $17 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate daily care to geriatric residents, treating each person with dignity
Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
Support mobility and safe transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
Observe residents for changes in condition and promptly communicate concerns to the nursing team
Accurately document care delivered and maintain clear resident records
Collaborate with nursing staff and families to promote individualized, person-centered care
Help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents

Qualifications

GNA certification required
Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Prior experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric settings is a plus
Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by facility
Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-focused attitude

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
GNA certification

Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of geriatric care needs and age-related changes
Basic clinical skills: vital signs, feeding assistance, hygiene support
Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
Reliable documentation and time-management skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Comfort interacting with residents and family members with empathy
