Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Neuro Stepdown/SDU setting with attention to neurological assessment and monitoring
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement individualized patient care plans
• Monitor telemetry and neuro-specific parameters, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns promptly
• Administer medications safely and document all care accurately in the patient's medical record
• Educate patients and families about neurological conditions, recovery expectations, and discharge planning
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (eligible to practice in Louisiana)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Experience or familiarity with Neuro Stepdown/SDU patient populations preferred
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred but not required
• Active RN licensure in Louisiana

Knowledge & Skills

• Neurological assessment and monitoring (NIH Stroke Scale familiarity a plus)
• Telemetry and hemodynamic monitoring knowledge
• Medication administration and IV management
• Electronic health record (EHR) documentation
• Patient/family education and discharge planning
• Prioritization, delegation, and teamwork in acute care settings
