Roles & Responsibilities

Assess and monitor critically ill pediatric patients and communicate changes in condition promptly
Administer medications and therapies safely and accurately within PICU protocols
Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other team members to deliver coordinated care
Perform timely documentation and handoffs to ensure continuity of care
Participate in unit orientation and training to maintain high standards of pediatric critical care
Support families with clear, compassionate communication during stressful moments

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in California
Clinical experience or orientation in pediatric critical care (PICU) preferred
BLS required; PALS highly preferred or willing to obtain
Ability to pass background check and meet facility health requirements
Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity pediatric environment

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric critical care assessment and monitoring
Familiarity with ventilator basics and vasoactive medication management
Skilled in IV therapy, medication administration, and pediatric dosing
Accurate and timely clinical documentation
Effective interdisciplinary collaboration and family-centered care
Adaptability in dynamic clinical situations
