Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality pre-operative and post-operative nursing care for cardiovascular surgical patients
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and detect arrhythmias using telemetry and cardiac monitoring systems
• Perform ongoing assessment and intervene for medium- to high-acuity patients to prevent deterioration
• Administer medications, manage infusions and titrate therapies per protocol
• Collaborate with surgeons, cardiology, anesthesia and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
• Educate patients and families about procedures, recovery expectations and self-care before discharge
• Document care accurately in EPIC and maintain clear communication during shift handoffs
• Float to Med/Surg when needed to support unit staffing and continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current California RN license (required)
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Current ACLS certification (required)
• EPIC charting experience (required)
• Minimum 2 years Critical Care experience (required)
• Successful completion of prior traveler assignments (required)
• Comfortable floating to Med/Surg as the unit needs

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiovascular nursing and cardiac monitoring expertise
• Pre- and post-operative cardiac care and familiarity with CABG and pacemaker post-op care
• Arrhythmia detection and telemetry interpretation
• Strong critical care assessment and prioritization skills
• Proficiency with EPIC documentation and electronic charting
• Effective communication, teamwork and patient education skills
• Ability to manage higher-acuity patients with multiple comorbidities
