Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide assessment, treatment and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies such as asthma, pneumonia and COPD
• Manage mechanical ventilation and titrate settings on ventilators including Servo I, Hamilton and similar platforms
• Perform and interpret ABG analysis to guide respiratory interventions
• Administer nebulizer therapy, CPAP/BiPAP and deliver chest physiotherapy (CPT) as indicated
• Document respiratory care accurately in Meditech and maintain clear communication in the medical record
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Respond to airway emergencies and codes with calm, skilled intervention
• Contribute to unit quality and patient safety initiatives through best practice and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care hospital RRT experience
• Trauma experience preferred
• Previous Meditech experience preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation management and ventilator troubleshooting
• ABG sampling and interpretation
• Nebulizer therapy administration and aerosol delivery
• CPAP and BiPAP setup and monitoring
• Chest physiotherapy techniques
• Familiarity with Meditech electronic medical record
• Strong critical thinking, teamwork and patient centered focus
• Ability to work in a fast paced acute care environment
