Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Plant Operations, Environmental Services, Maintenance and Grounds to ensure a safe, efficient facility
- Supervise approximately 45 FTEs across multiple divisions with clear expectations and development plans
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs and inspect equipment to meet operational and manufacturer standards
- Direct utility system maintenance to maintain continuous supply of heat, steam, power, gas and medical gasses required for patient care
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and standards (NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS) and local building and fire codes
- Coordinate with departments to assess needs and develop action plans that support clinical and facility goals
- Manage outside contractor compliance and contractor work to hospital policies and regulatory requirements
- Develop customer-service-focused training and follow up on employee and customer concerns in a timely professional manner
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of personnel management experience
- Thorough knowledge of electricity, electronics, plumbing, carpentry, boiler operation, HVAC and general building maintenance
- Experience with autoclaving, bio-waste handling, life safety codes, construction phasing and environmental services operations
- Ability to apply engineering principles to detect, diagnose and repair malfunctioning equipment or systems
- Strong leadership, communication and customer-service skills
- Candidate MUST be willing to relocate to a rural area
Education
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field
Knowledge & Skills
- Facility management and plant operations expertise
- Preventative maintenance planning and execution
- HVAC, boiler operation and plumbing systems knowledge
- Electrical systems and general building maintenance
- Regulatory compliance (NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS) and life safety codes
- Personnel management and training development
- Experience working with outside contractors and construction phasing
- Environmental services and bio-waste handling awareness
