Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for nuclear medicine studies and ensure they understand procedures and safety instructions
• Perform high-quality diagnostic nuclear medicine scans in accordance with established protocols and standards
• Operate and monitor equipment including gamma cameras, dose calibrators, survey meters, well counters, and thyroid uptake probes
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and report equipment issues to keep imaging services running smoothly
• Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and follow all radiation safety and contamination control procedures
• Document procedures, maintain work area cleanliness and organization, and ensure accurate recordkeeping
• Participate in teaching and instructional activities to support staff development and quality care
• Provide compassionate care to patients of all ages and respond to varied developmental and clinical needs

Qualifications

• Current Hawaii license as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (required)
• Current BLS/HCP certification (required)
• One (1) year of Nuclear Medicine experience preferred; new graduates are welcome
• Demonstrated knowledge of nuclear medicine physics, radiopharmaceutical administration, and radiation safety
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with radiologists and physicians
• Ability to perform physical demands of role (standing, walking, lifting/carrying up to 30 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs)

Education

• Current Hawaiʻi license as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
• Current BLS/HCP certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Radiopharmaceutical handling and administration
• Radiation safety and use of PPE and leaded protective equipment
• Gamma camera operation and diagnostic nuclear medicine imaging
• Dose calibrator, survey meter, well counter, and thyroid uptake probe operation
• Equipment troubleshooting and basic maintenance
• Patient preparation and age-appropriate patient care
• Critical thinking, independent practice, and effective communication with clinical teams
• Experience with teaching/instructional activities
