Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert emergency nursing care for high-acuity patients, applying RSI, sepsis interventions, and stroke/tPA protocols when needed
• Assess, prioritize, and manage diverse emergency presentations while maintaining safe patient ratios (typically 4-6:1)
• Perform and manage procedures such as central line care and assist with placements as appropriate
• Coordinate EMTALA transfers and communicate effectively with receiving facilities for safe patient movement
• Deliver compassionate care for psychiatric patients and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safety
• Document accurately in the Meditech EMR and maintain clear handoff communication with teammates
• Act as a reliable, team-oriented clinician who supports a relaxed, respectful unit culture

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (state of practice)
• Minimum 2-3 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience
• Must have completed 2-3 prior travel assignments
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS; TNCC preferred
• Preferred certifications: ENPC, NRP, NIH Stroke/NIHSS
• Experience working in high-acuity, high-volume ER settings and comfort with 4-6:1 patient ratios
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR

Education

• Active RN licensure required (Associate or BSN acceptable)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of emergency nursing protocols (RSI, sepsis bundles, stroke/tPA workflow)
• Proven skills in patient assessment, triage, and rapid clinical decision-making
• Experience managing central lines and complex procedures in the ED
• Understanding of EMTALA transfer requirements and inter-facility coordination
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Proficiency with Meditech electronic medical record system
