Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional, patient-centered nursing care for labor, delivery and newborn support using fetal heart monitoring best practices
• Perform timely neonatal resuscitation (NRP) when clinically indicated and lead coordinated responses with the newborn team
• Monitor maternal and fetal status, interpret fetal strips, and escalate changes in condition to the care team
• Complete accurate documentation in the medical record and maintain competency via Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing
• Collaborate with obstetrics, neonatology and ancillary teams to ensure smooth transitions of care and positive patient experiences
• Participate in unit-based quality and safety initiatives, contributing to improvements in maternal-newborn outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (state licensure verification required)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• AWHONN / Fetal Heart Monitoring certification or documented competency
• Successful completion of Trinity skills checklists and specialty competency testing
• Up-to-date occupational health requirements: immunizations, drug screen, fit test, vision screening and physical/health statement

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in fetal heart monitoring interpretation and intrapartum surveillance
• Proficient in neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn care
• Strong assessment, critical thinking and prioritized decision-making in perinatal settings
• Effective communication and teamwork with obstetrics, pediatrics and support services
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Commitment to patient safety, infection control and evidence-based maternal-newborn practices
