Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert circulating and/or scrub nursing care in the operating room to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and recognize post-anesthesia and post-operative complications early
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary team members for coordinated patient care
• Supervise and support assigned team members to maintain a safe, efficient OR environment
• Serve as a patient and family advocate, offering physical and psychological support before, during, and after procedures
• Maintain and organize the work area, supplies, and equipment to uphold sterile technique and regulatory standards
• Participate in 24-hour on-call coverage as scheduled and respond professionally during urgent situations
• Document patient care accurately and timely in accordance with hospital and regulatory guidelines

Qualifications

• Current Washington State RN license or valid multi-state RN license required
• Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification required on hire
• ACLS and PALS certifications required
• Previous experience in Operating Room nursing; Recovery Room experience preferred
• Comfort with rotating on-call assignments and the ability to respond promptly
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough knowledge of operating room procedures, sterile technique, and infection control
• Skilled in nursing assessment with the ability to detect post-anesthesia and post-operative complications
• Experience as a circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse in a surgical setting
• Ability to supervise and mentor team members effectively
• Competence in patient and family education and emotional support
• Proficient documentation practices and familiarity with electronic medical records
