Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and verify sterile fields, instruments, and equipment before procedures
• Assist the surgical team throughout procedures by anticipating needs and passing instruments
• Continuously monitor patient status and vital signs during surgery and report changes promptly
• Maintain accurate, timely perioperative documentation and surgical counts
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to ensure safe, efficient care
• Provide compassionate patient education and pre/post-operative support to patients and families
• Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to protect patients and staff

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or ability to obtain licensure prior to start
• Previous operating room (OR) nursing experience preferred
• Current BLS required; ACLS and CNOR credentials preferred where applicable
• Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced surgical environments with strong situational awareness
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and perioperative infection control
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation, supplies, and intraoperative procedures
• Ability to perform accurate surgical counts and perioperative documentation
• Skilled in patient assessment and intraoperative monitoring
• Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary surgical team
