Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
• Perform thorough assessments, interventions, and accurate documentation to support patient outcomes
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Administer medications, manage IVs and lines, and monitor advanced support devices as needed
• Participate in orientation and training activities to onboard new staff and maintain unit standards
• Educate and support families during high-stress situations, ensuring clear communication and empathy
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and uphold safety protocols to improve patient care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in California (required)
• PICU experience preferred; prior pediatric critical care experience highly valued
• BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred or willing to obtain
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and pediatric medication administration skills
• Current basic life support and pediatric advanced life support certifications as applicable
• Ability to pass facility onboarding and orientation requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric critical care assessment and intervention
• Ventilator and hemodynamic monitoring knowledge
• IV/medication administration and titration experience
• Family-centered care and effective communication skills
• Proficient documentation and clinical charting practices
• Teamwork and collaboration in high-acuity settings
