Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, family-centered critical care to pediatric patients in the PICU
Assess, monitor and document patient condition and respond to changes promptly
Administer medications, titrate infusions and manage advanced life support devices
Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists and interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute care plans
Educate families and caregivers on patient condition, treatments and discharge planning
Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives
Support orienting and mentoring new staff during orientation periods

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications required
Experience working in a pediatric intensive care or critical care setting preferred
Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills and ability to work in high-acuity situations
Willingness to participate in scheduled orientation and unit-based training

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Solid knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and interventions
Skill with patient assessment, ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
Medication calculation and safe administration practices
Ability to use electronic medical records and document care accurately
Excellent teamwork, prioritization and crisis management abilities
