Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage emergency patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care
• Deliver evidence-based emergency interventions and ongoing patient management
• Administer medications, start IVs, and perform procedures as indicated
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and support staff to coordinate rapid, high-quality care
• Maintain clear, timely documentation in the patient record and communicate changes effectively
• Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up needs
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives to enhance department outcomes

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (able to practice in Hawaii or willing to obtain state licensure)
• Experience in Emergency Department / ER nursing (prior ED experience preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) highly recommended
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization skills in high-acuity settings
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and emergency assessment skills for diverse acute presentations
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Medication administration, IV therapy, and emergency procedures
• Ability to function effectively in fast-paced, high-stress environments
• Patient/family education and effective interdisciplinary communication
