Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the Med/Surg pediatric unit
• Assess patient condition, monitor vital signs, and communicate changes to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to orders
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and family members to create and follow care plans
• Document patient care activities clearly and timely in the patient record
• Advocate for patients and their families, promoting comfort and dignity
• Participate in orientation and unit-based training to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license — Missouri license or compact RN preferred
• Experience or demonstrated competency in Med/Surg nursing; pediatric experience a plus
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) encouraged
• Strong clinical assessment and IV/medication administration skills
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-first attitude
• Ability to complete required orientation and credentialing prior to start

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Foundational knowledge of med/surg nursing principles and pediatric care
• Familiarity with medication administration, documentation standards, and safety protocols
• Skilled in patient assessment, prioritization, and clinical decision-making
• Comfort working with children and engaging families in care
• Adaptability in a fast-paced hospital environment and strong teamwork skills
• Basic computer skills for electronic health record charting
