Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert labor and delivery nursing care, monitoring labor progress and supporting safe births
- Perform and interpret fetal monitoring to ensure fetal well-being
- Support postpartum recovery and provide patient education for new parents
- Conduct vaginal examinations and accurate documentation in EPIC
- Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and the neonatal team for seamless patient care
- Respond to obstetric emergencies, initiating ACLS/NRP protocols as needed
- Complete required competency testing and maintain compliance with unit policies and health screenings
Qualifications
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS, NRP and ACLS certifications required
- Fetal heart monitoring certification or AWHONN preferred
- Experience in Labor and Delivery, postpartum care, and vaginal examinations
- Proficiency with EPIC charting
- Ability to pass required health screenings and drug tests (COVID-19 vaccine, PPD/X-ray, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, influenza, fit testing)
- BSN preferred but not required; strong clinical experience in L&D accepted
Education
- Current RN license required
- BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong fetal monitoring interpretation and perinatal assessment skills
- EPIC documentation and electronic charting proficiency
- Skilled in postpartum care and patient education for new families
- Ability to manage obstetric emergencies and neonatal resuscitation
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and situational awareness in a fast-paced unit
- Comfortable working night shifts and providing compassionate, family-centered care
