Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adult patients in accordance with facility policies
- Perform timely patient assessments, implement care plans, and document interventions accurately
- Respond to emergencies and activate appropriate protocols using BLS/ACLS skills
- Conduct stroke assessments and interventions, utilizing NIHSS and related stroke care pathways
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate safe, patient-centered transitions of care
- Maintain competency through required skills checks and mandatory testing (core competencies, specialty exams, pharmacology)
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse credentials with Nursys verification
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- NIHSS certification and familiarity with stroke assessment tools
- DCI/BVP certification as required by the facility
- Completion of facility-required testing: Prime Core Competencies, Prime Skills Checklist, Prime Specialty Exam, Prime Basic Pharmacology
- Up-to-date immunizations and screenings (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, TB test/PPD or Chest X-Ray, Varicella, Tdap), and a clean drug screen and fit test
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program and active RN license
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in acute care settings
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and basic emergency interventions
- Experience with stroke care protocols and NIHSS scoring
- Clear, timely documentation and effective communication with patients and care teams
- Comfortable administering medications and basic IV therapies
- Ability to learn and demonstrate unit-specific procedures through skills validation
