Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, patient-centered care using the nursing process: assess, plan, implement, evaluate
• Provide direct nursing care in the Emergency Department and Telemetry areas with clinical confidence
• Perform timely patient assessments and communicate changes in condition to physicians
• Document care accurately and efficiently in EPIC EMR
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and follow-up care
• Adhere to EMTALA regulations and report concerns such as suspected abuse appropriately
• Lead and coordinate activities of other nursing personnel when necessary to ensure high-quality care
• Respond quickly and accurately to emergencies and changes in patient status

Qualifications

• Current and valid RN license (state of practice required)
• BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications current
• EDAP 1 and EDAP 2 training completed
• BVP (MAB) and DCI/BVP training required
• EPIC EMR experience required — strong documentation skills a must
• NIHSS or Stroke Certification preferred
• COVID-19 vaccination/boosters preferred
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced Emergency Department and Telemetry environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of the nursing process and telemetry care
• Strong patient assessment and clinical reasoning skills
• Familiarity with EMTALA regulations and reporting procedures
• Experience with EPIC EMR documentation and workflows
• Excellent communication and patient/family teaching abilities
• Ability to prioritize, triage and respond rapidly in emergency situations
• Team-oriented mindset and the ability to guide other nursing personnel
