Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert Cath Lab nursing care for STEMI and acute cardiac patients, maintaining calm under pressure
• Perform and document NIHSS assessments for stroke patients as required
• Respond to on-call STEMI/Stroke activations promptly and collaboratively with the care team
• Administer and manage ACLS/BLS interventions and assist in advanced cardiac procedures
• Interpret rhythms and collaborate with physicians and techs to optimize patient outcomes
• Complete required Prime skills, specialty exams, and competency checklists to ensure high-quality care

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license with verification via Nursys (must be eligible to practice in NJ)
• NIHSS certification required (explicitly listed in the order)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• DCI/BVP certification (listed under required certifications)
• Experience and comfort working in a Cath Lab environment and providing STEMI/stroke coverage
• Able to complete required Prime screenings: pharmacology, rhythm interpretation, core competencies, specialty exam
• Must meet facility health requirements (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, TB testing, Hep B, influenza vaccine, Tdap, drug screen, fit test, varicella or proof of immunity)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of STEMI and stroke protocols and emergency response
• Rhythm interpretation and basic electrophysiology familiarity
• Pharmacology knowledge relevant to Cath Lab medications and acute cardiac care
• Proficiency with Cath Lab workflows, sterile technique, and device setup
• Comfort with on-call rotations and rapid team communication
• Familiarity with Prime exam formats and competency documentation
