Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough gross examinations of biopsies and complex surgical specimens with accuracy and attention to surgical margins
• Perform and stain frozen sections promptly to support intraoperative decision-making
• Allocate medical renal and medical muscle biopsies following established procedures and documentation standards
• Prepare cases and block submissions in a high-volume environment (supporting approximately 75–125 cases per day)
• Document findings and case information in the EMR systems (Epic and SoftPath) clearly and professionally
• Collaborate closely with grossing techs and histology techs to ensure smooth workflow and quality results
• Provide reliable maternity-leave coverage, maintaining continuity of patient care and lab operations

Qualifications

• Certified Pathologist Assistant — certification is required (deal breaker: non-certified applicants will not be considered)
• Proven ability to perform frozen section cases and complex surgical resections reliably
• Comfort working in a high-volume hospital pathology lab environment
• Experience using Epic and SoftPath for case documentation and workflow management
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with grossing and histology technical staff
• Ability to maintain quality, safety, and turnaround expectations in a fast-paced setting

Education

• Certified Pathologist Assistant (required)

Knowledge & Skills
