Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform gross examination of biopsies and complex surgical specimens with accuracy and attention to diagnostic detail
• Execute and stain frozen sections promptly to support intraoperative decision-making
• Allocate medical renal and medical muscle biopsies following established protocols
• Collaborate closely with Grossing Techs and Histology Techs to maintain smooth lab workflow
• Document all procedures and findings in Epic and SoftPath to ensure clear, accessible records
• Manage a high-volume caseload efficiently (approximately 250–300 blocks per weekday)
• Adhere to hospital pathology lab policies and assist in maintaining quality and safety standards

Qualifications

• Certified Pathologist Assistant (required) — non-certified applicants will not be considered
• Demonstrated ability to perform frozen section cases and complex surgical resection cases (deal breakers if unable)
• Experience in a hospital pathology lab environment
• Comfort managing high-volume workloads (approx. 250–300 blocks/day; ~75–125 cases/day)
• Familiarity with Epic and SoftPath EMR systems
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with Grossing and Histology technical staff

Education

• Certified Pathologist Assistant (required)
