Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac telemetry continuously and interpret strips to identify patient changes quickly
• Administer and manage IV drips (Heparin, Cardizem, Insulin, comfort narcotics) with precision and safety
• Provide acute care for Med/Surg and PCU patients including CHF, COPD, CVA and more
• Float across Med Surg/PCU/ED as needed to support patient flow and temporary bed locations
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy and pharmacy teams to coordinate complex care
• Supervise and delegate to nurse aides, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care
• Serve in charge nurse duties when assigned, managing patient assignments and team workflow
• Document care accurately in Epic and participate in unit-specific orientation and training

Qualifications

• Active WA RN license or Compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of acute care/telemetry nursing experience
• Comfortable reading and interpreting cardiac strips and using telemonitoring systems
• Experience with Epic charting preferred
• Ability to float across Med Surg, PCU and ED and work every-other-weekend and holidays
• Strong collaboration skills for working with RT, pharmacy and multidisciplinary teams
• Charge nurse experience preferred and the ability to supervise nurse aides

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or nursing diploma accepted
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• IV/drip management and safe medication administration
• Acute care nursing best practices for CHF, COPD, CVA, renal and withdrawal patients
• Proficiency with Epic electronic medical record
• Patient observation techniques including camera-based monitoring
• Effective communication and team coordination with RT, pharmacy and support staff
• Ability to function in boarding situations and adapt to temporary bed locations
