Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM, includes weekend rotation (4 shifts per 4-week schedule). Day-focused schedule with evening handoff; may require floating and occasional standby/call response within 30 minutes
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $70 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry continuously to detect arrhythmias and changes in patient status
- Provide high-quality bedside nursing for telemetry patients including post-pacer care, new-onset AFib/RVR, dialysis patients, and step-down admits from ICU
- Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, respiratory therapists, and pharmacy to execute timely care plans
- Perform thorough assessments, document in Cerner, and escalate concerns per unit protocols
- Safely manage CPAP/BiPAP patients in coordination with RT and assist with patient transfers when appropriate
- Serve as a dependable team member who can float to related med-surg units and support staffing needs
- Participate in holiday and weekend rotations as part of the traveler integration into the permanent schedule
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license valid in California (must be able to submit license)
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications and NIHSS certification required
- Proven ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms confidently (Philips telemetry experience a plus)
- Experience charting in Cerner EMR preferred
- Comfortable floating within MedSurg/telemetry areas and responding to unit staffing needs
- Able to report within 30 minutes if placed on standby/call
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred but not required
- Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation (essential)
- Cerner electronic medical record proficiency
- Experience with Philips telemetry monitors
- Basic ventilatory support familiarity (CPAP/BiPAP workflows with RT)
- Strong assessment, prioritization, and acute care decision-making skills
- Clear communication and teamwork in a fast-paced acute care setting
- Ability to manage high-acuity patients, including post-op, dialysis, stroke, and sepsis cases
