Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality care to cardiac step-down and post-op open-heart patients on the PCU
• Manage ventilators, titrate cardiac drips and support heart cath recovery with clinical confidence
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in Epic EMR to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Respond to changing census and staffing needs, including floating to other units when required
• Participate in unit practice improvements and share clinical expertise to elevate patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Ohio license or compact where applicable)
• Minimum of three (3) years of cardiac step-down nursing experience
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Hands-on experience with open-heart/post-op cardiac patients, heart cath recovery and cardiac drips
• Experience with ventilator management and caring for patients on mechanical ventilation
• Proven Epic EMR proficiency
• Comfortable floating to other units and providing weekend/holiday coverage as scheduled

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN/ASN or BSN)
• BSN preferred where available
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac step-down care and post-op open-heart management
• Ventilator management and critical respiratory assessment
• Cardiac monitoring and titration of inotropic/vasoactive drips
• Heart cath recovery protocols and post-procedure monitoring
• Proficient documentation and order entry in Epic EMR
• Strong clinical judgment, communication and teamwork in fast-paced settings
