Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality cardiac step-down care for post-op open heart, heart cath recovery, and other cardiac/med-surg step-down patients
• Manage complex cardiac drips and ventilator care with vigilance and skill
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic EMR to ensure continuity and safety
• Collaborate with physicians, RTs, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Assess, monitor, and intervene for changes in cardiac patient condition promptly
• Support unit staffing needs by floating to other units when necessary and helping during coverage challenges
• Contribute to quality improvement and safety initiatives on the unit

Qualifications

• Active RN credential required (Registered Nurse)
• Minimum 3 years of cardiac step-down experience, including heart cath recovery, cardiac drips, and post-op open heart care
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Hands-on experience with ventilator management and post-op cardiac care
• Proven experience using Epic EMR
• Willingness to work the specified start date of 01/19/2026 and commit to the contract period
• Ability to work every 3rd weekend and cover one holiday, and to float if needed

Education

• Current RN licensure appropriate for practice in Ohio

• Strong cardiac assessment and step-down nursing skills
• Competency with cardiac drips and titration protocols
• Ventilator management and troubleshooting
• Proficient Epic EMR documentation and navigation
• Critical thinking, rapid decision-making, and excellent communication
• Teamwork and flexibility in a fast-paced acute care setting
