Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care for PCU patients during 12-hour night shifts
• Continuously monitor telemetry and respond rapidly to changes in cardiac rhythms
• Manage central line care and participate in procedures or coordinate transfers to higher acuity areas when needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (MDs, CNAs, LPNs, clinical leads) to create safe care plans
• Act as a patient advocate, educating patients and families and ensuring a smooth experience
• Support unit flow, including admissions, discharges and escalation of care when patients upgrade to ICU
• Document care accurately in the Meditech EMR and maintain high standards of charting

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) — clinical RN role indicated
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience (PCU/telemetry experience emphasized)
• BLS and ACLS — required (candidates without these will not be considered)
• Telemetry experience — required
• Charge experience — preferred (you’ll be considered first with this background)
• Experience with central line care/placement procedures preferred
• Comfort using Meditech or similar EMR systems

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation skills
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR for documentation and patient management
• Good clinical judgment for step-down/PCU patient population and escalation pathways
• Familiarity with common unit equipment (Hill-Rom beds, Baxter IV pumps, SCD pumps)
• Excellent communication and teamwork in a close-knit unit
• Ability to maintain safe patient ratios (typically 1:5, occasionally 1:6 in rare staffing shortages)
