Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care to acutely ill patients across the hospital
• Manage and monitor mechanical ventilation and airway support
• Perform patient assessments and develop individualized respiratory plans
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Deliver emergency respiratory interventions when needed
• Document treatments and patient responses accurately in the EMR
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care and equipment use

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience as indicated
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications
• Familiarity with Meditech electronic medical record
• State licensure in Virginia or eligibility to obtain licensure for travel assignment
• Strong critical thinking, communication and teamwork skills

Education

• Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Associate degree or equivalent preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in mechanical ventilation management and troubleshooting
• Skilled in airway management, oxygen therapy and aerosol treatments
• Able to interpret arterial blood gases and adjust care accordingly
• Experience with bedside monitoring and charting in Meditech
• Comfortable working in fast-paced acute care and emergency scenarios
• Customer-focused approach to patient and family education
