Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a 33-bed Med-Surg/Oncology unit
• Assess, monitor and document patient status using Meditech (EBCD) to keep the care team aligned
• Administer medications and manage Baxter IV pump therapy safely and accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members during bedside shift report and shift huddles
• Perform thorough patient assessments and intervene promptly for changes in condition
• Support hourly rounding and engage with patients and families to improve experience scores
• Serve as a reliable team player during admissions, discharges and transitions of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Virginia or compact where applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (medical-surgical / acute care experience required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Experience with Meditech preferred
• Familiarity with Baxter IV pumps is a plus
• Oncology and chemotherapy experience preferred but not required
• Positive, energetic attitude and demonstrated ability to work well in team-based care

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred where available.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong medical-surgical and acute care nursing skills
• Ability to use Meditech for charting, meds and documentation
• Competence managing IV pumps and complex medication regimens
• Solid patient assessment and critical thinking skills
• Clear communication with patients, families and the interdisciplinary team
• Comfort working in a fast-paced hospital environment with a 5-6:1 patient ratio
