Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, efficient pre-operative and post-operative nursing care for ambulatory surgery patients
• Perform confident IV placement and manage patient vascular access during pre-op and PACU phases
• Closely monitor patient vitals, recovery status, and respond to changes with sound clinical judgment
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech OR module and EMAR to maintain continuity
• Collaborate with the perioperative team to prepare patients, facilitate smooth transfers, and optimize throughput
• Educate patients and caregivers about post-op care, discharge instructions, and follow-up needs
• Assist with procedures and support teams in Endoscopy or other units as needed for patient flow

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (PACU or ambulatory surgery experience strongly preferred)
• BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred
• Proven ability with IV placement and pre-op/post-op nursing
• Comfortable using Meditech OR module and EMAR for documentation
• Strong teamwork, adaptability, and excellent bedside manner

Education

• Current RN licensure (required); formal nursing education (ADN/BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of pre-operative assessment and post-anesthesia recovery
• Skilled in IV insertion, patient monitoring, and basic airway/oxygen management
• Familiarity with ambulatory surgery workflows and common procedures (total joint, choley, urology, pediatric cases, etc.)
• Experience with suction, bladder scanner, vein finder, and glucose monitoring
• Comfortable documenting in Meditech OR module and EMAR
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and communicate clearly with patients and the surgical team
