Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive admission assessments and focused assessments every 8 hours to keep patients safe and comfortable
• Administer and manage IV antibiotics and other medications with precision and attention to detail
• Conduct bladder scans and provide patient-centered discharge education to promote successful transitions home
• Document all patient care accurately in the EMR (Meditech) to ensure continuity and quality
• Manage an assigned patient load (typical ratios up to 6:1) while prioritizing patient safety and outcomes
• Collaborate with clinical coordinators, RNs, and PCTs to maintain an upbeat, team-focused unit
• Triage and escalate changes in condition promptly to the appropriate team members

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (posting lists Experience: 2)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for VA RN licensure
• Comfortable and proven ability to handle patient ratios up to 6:1
• Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced Med-Surg environment
• Meditech EMR experience preferred
• Team-oriented mindset and positive, energetic attitude

Knowledge & Skills

• Med-Surg nursing best practices and patient assessment skills
• IV therapy experience including administration of IV antibiotics
• Admission and discharge assessment and education
• Bladder scanning and basic bedside diagnostics
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR documentation
• Effective time management, prioritization, and teamwork under busy morning workloads
