Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and accurately, including PICC line and PEG tube care
• Perform tracheostomy care, tube feedings, Foley catheter care, bladder irrigation, and blood administration with confidence
• Use the Meditech documentation system to record assessments, interventions and patient progress promptly
• Collaborate with physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and the interdisciplinary team to support patients’ functional goals
• Monitor patients closely, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns to providers as appropriate
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining unit patient ratios (typically 5-7:1)
• Support unit workflow and float to other med-surg areas when needed to ensure excellent patient care

Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience — Med-Surg or PCU experience is required
• BLS certification (required); additional certifications encouraged
• Rehab experience preferred but not required — we welcome skilled Med-Surg RNs ready to step into rehab
• Comfort with IV therapy, PICC, PEG tube administration, trach care, bladder scans and blood administration
• Ability to document accurately in Meditech and work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge & Skills

• IV therapy and PICC line care expertise
• PEG tube administration and tube feeding skills
• Tracheostomy care and respiratory observation
• Foley catheter management and bladder irrigation
• Blood administration competency and safe medication practices
• Experience with SCDs and bladder scanner operation
• Proficiency with Meditech documentation
• Strong assessment, clinical judgement and communication skills
• Team-based approach and ability to collaborate with PT/OT/SLP and physicians
