Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to inpatient rehab patients
• Manage medication administration including IVs and PICC line care
• Perform PEG tube administration, tube feedings, trach care and suctioning
• Provide Foley catheterization, bladder scans, bladder irrigation and urinary care
• Administer blood products safely and according to protocol
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Meditech
• Collaborate with physical, occupational and speech therapy, physiatrist, PA and neuropsychologist to set and achieve rehab goals
• Monitor patient condition, intervene promptly for changes in status and escalate appropriately
• Educate patients and families about recovery plans and safe transitions
• Float to other Med-Surg departments as needed while maintaining high standards of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia (VA License) required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (Med-Surg or PCU experience required)
• Rehab nursing experience preferred
• Comfortable with 12-hour shifts and every-other-weekend scheduling
• Competent in IV therapy, PICC care, PEG tube administration, trach care, tube feeding and blood administration
• Experience with Meditech or similar EHR preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and adapt to floating when needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong med-surg and rehab nursing assessment skills
• Proficiency with IV therapy, PICC lines and medication administration
• Knowledge of PEG tube care, enteral feeding and trach management
• Experience with bladder scanner use, Foley catheter care and bladder irrigation
• Skilled in safe blood administration practices
• Familiarity with Meditech electronic documentation
• Comfortable using Baxter IV pumps and SCDs
• Ability to prioritize patient safety and deliver goal-oriented rehab care
