Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing for MICU/MSICU patients, managing complex ventilated and hemodynamically unstable patients
• Perform ICU procedures and bedside interventions such as central line care, thoracentesis support, dialysis coordination, cardioversion assistance and intubation when needed
• Manage ventilator settings and participate in ventilator weaning plans in collaboration with the care team
• Respond promptly and professionally to Rapid Response and code situations
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech and communicate changes clearly during handoffs
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, and allied teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families with empathy and clear communication during stressful times

Qualifications

• Active RN Texas license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• Minimum 2+ years of recent MICU/MSICU critical care nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• CCRN preferred
• Demonstrated experience with ventilator management and other advanced ICU procedures
• Comfortable using Meditech documentation system; familiarity with NXStage and cardiac output monitoring a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical care assessment and clinical judgment
• Ventilator management and weaning strategies
• Familiarity with ICU equipment: ventilators, NXStage, Arctic Sun, GE Cardiac Output monitor
• Proficient documentation skills in Meditech
• Ability to perform or support procedures (central lines, thoracentesis, dialysis, intubation, cardioversion)
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and crisis-management skills
