Shift Type: Rotating shifts including days and nights (schedule varies and may include weekends): 06:00 AM - 04:00 PM; 09:00 AM - 09:00 PM; 02:00 PM - 12:00 AM; 08:00 PM - 06:00 AM (rotating, onsite; no on-call)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $245 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, timely emergency care to adult, pediatric and newborn patients
- Perform essential ED procedures including suturing, incision & drainage, central and arterial lines, lumbar puncture, paracentesis and arthrocentesis
- Manage airway and ventilation including establishing/maintaining airways and various ventilation modes for up to 24 hours when needed
- Evaluate and manage acute medical and trauma presentations, including fracture assessment and non-displaced fracture management
- Interpret EKGs and manage acute cardiac and hemodynamic conditions
- Document clinical encounters and orders accurately in Cerner
- Collaborate closely with APPs, nursing, radiology and lab teams to maintain efficient patient flow and high-quality care
- Support departmental needs during a high-volume environment (approximately 80 patients/day) with professionalism and calm
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree
- Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine (or Family Medicine with significant ED experience)
- Active Michigan medical license or ability to obtain state license in a timely manner
- Current ACLS and PALS certifications
- Demonstrated procedural competence in ED skills (airway management, suturing, lines, lumbar puncture, etc.)
- Experience working in a busy emergency department with a high patient volume
- Comfortable using Cerner EHR for documentation and orders
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
Education
- MD or DO; completion of a residency in Emergency Medicine (or Family Medicine with substantial ED procedural experience); board certified or board eligible preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency Medicine clinical knowledge across adult, pediatric and newborn care
- Airway and ventilation management (various modes, short-term ventilatory care)
- Procedural skills: suturing, I&D, central line and arterial line placement, lumbar puncture, paracentesis, arthrocentesis
- Orthopedic evaluation and non-displaced fracture management
- EKG interpretation and acute cardiac care
- Triage and throughput strategies for high-volume EDs
- Familiarity with Cerner EHR workflows
- Ability to work effectively with APPs, nurses, techs, radiology and lab teams
