Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients and develop individualized plans of care using the nursing process
• Provide safe, competent nursing care for Med/Surg and EICU patients with minimal supervision
• Administer medications accurately, including IV therapy, and monitor for reactions
• Respond swiftly to life-threatening situations following policies, protocols, and best practices
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly and promptly in the EMR
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge needs
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and delegate tasks appropriately
• Maintain infection control standards and ensure safe handling of specimens

Qualifications

• Active Wisconsin Registered Nursing license (required)
• Associate degree in nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
• BLS certification required and ACLS certification required; PALS preferred
• Experience in Med/Surg nursing and exposure to EICU or critical care preferred
• Competency in IV therapy and medication administration with attention to accuracy
• Strong assessment, documentation, and clinical decision-making skills
• Willingness to work nights and every 3rd weekend; on-call availability possible

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and application of the nursing process
• Medication administration, including IV therapy and safety practices
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation and computerized charting
• Infection control, universal precautions, and aseptic technique
• BLS and ACLS life support skills
• Med/Surg and EICU clinical knowledge, monitoring, and interventions
• Clear communication, delegation, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment
