Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures using equipment that produces ionizing radiation, ensuring image quality and patient safety
- Apply radiation protection principles and proper radiographic exposure techniques for accurate imaging
- Provide compassionate, age-appropriate patient care and communicate clearly with patients and families
- Operate and maintain imaging equipment, troubleshoot minor issues, and escalate technical concerns
- Collaborate with radiologists and clinical teams to ensure timely, accurate imaging and reporting
- Participate in on-call rotations and weekend coverage as scheduled to support continuous patient care
Qualifications
- ARRT Certification (required)
- State of Illinois Radiologic Technologist registration (required)
- BLS Certification (required)
- Graduate of an accredited Radiology program (required)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs or more and perform standard patient handling
- CT experience preferred
- Comfort working with potentially communicable diseases and following infection control protocols
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Radiology program
Knowledge & Skills
- Radiologic Technology fundamentals and radiographic exposure techniques
- Radiation protection best practices for patients and staff
- Strong patient care skills, including age-specific considerations
- Familiarity with CT protocols (preferred)
- Ability to work independently during evening shifts and manage on-call responsibilities
- Effective communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary care teams
