Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled acute care physical therapy evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans
• Deliver one-on-one therapeutic interventions focused on mobility, strength, gait training and discharge goals
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate safe, efficient patient care
• Document accurately and promptly in Epic to support continuity of care and billing requirements
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safety strategies and discharge plans
• Use appropriate equipment and safety procedures (gait belt, sliding boards, hospital beds, bed alarms) to protect patients and staff
• Contribute to quality improvement efforts and maintain compliance with hospital protocols

Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist in Texas (active state license required)
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience (acute care experience preferred; 1st time/1-year PTs considered)
• Familiarity with Epic charting system (charting in Epic required)
• BLS certification preferred (facility may require BLS upon hire)
• Ability to work day shifts with scheduled weekend rotation
• Strong assessment, body mechanics, and orthopedic/neurologic skill set
• Excellent communication skills and a patient-centered approach

Education

• DPT preferred; BS in Physical Therapy or related degree accepted

Knowledge & Skills

• Acute care physical therapy
• Patient assessment and evaluation
• Body mechanics and safe patient handling
• Orthopedics: post-op hip, knee, shoulder, spinal procedures
• Neurologic care: post-stroke, TBI, spinal cord injury, Parkinson's, MS
• Gait training, transfers, and mobility progressions
• Discharge planning and home exercise program development
• Equipment experience: gait belt, sliding boards, hospital beds, bed alarms, call lights
• Documentation and billing basics (Commercial, Medicaid, Medicare A)
• Epic electronic health record charting
