Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate inpatient needs and responses to delivered care, making thoughtful, patient-centered decisions
• Apply sound nursing judgment to coordinate and direct patient care activities, from teaching to discharge planning
• Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, and the healthcare team about the plan of care
• Delegate appropriately and collaborate with team members to ensure safe, timely care
• Participate in performance improvement, nursing quality and research initiatives and apply findings to clinical practice
• Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for safe, competent nursing practice every shift

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa (or eligible to obtain)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications welcomed
• Comfortable with inpatient nursing judgment, patient assessment, and care coordination
• Strong communication and team-management skills to lead and collaborate effectively
• Prior inpatient experience preferred; new grads with strong clinical skills are encouraged to apply

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and nursing judgment in acute care settings
• Clinical documentation, discharge planning, and patient education
• Team coordination, delegation, and interdisciplinary communication
• Familiarity with performance improvement and nursing quality processes
• Ability to apply nursing research to clinical practice
