Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality respiratory care across adults, pediatrics, and neonates including treatments and ventilator management
• Manage invasive and noninvasive ventilation (PB 840, Servo 1, LVT 1200, 3100A HF oscillator) to optimize patient outcomes
• Draw, run, and accurately report ABGs including NICU capillary gases
• Serve as Charge RT/lead each shift when assigned, coordinating care and guiding the team
• Provide NICU rounding when appropriate and support ER arrests and critical events
• Perform telemetry monitoring and 12-lead acquisition on nights and weekends
• Float between floors, ICU, and NICU with a commitment to maintaining competency through skills checkoffs and validations
• Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, pharmacy, and other teams to ensure seamless patient care

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required or equivalent credential per facility policy
• Current BLS and ACLS required; PALS required for pediatric assignments; NRP required if working in NICU
• Experience with Cerner EMR or similar electronic charting systems preferred
• Demonstrated ability to manage ventilators and high-frequency oscillator care
• Comfort working across acuity levels (floor, ICU, NICU) and handling ABG analysis
• Willingness to rotate weekends and holidays and cover NICU call if experienced
• Valid state respiratory therapist licensure or ability to obtain (California licensure preferred)

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or related field; Bachelor's degree a plus
• RRT credential preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong ventilation management skills and familiarity with PB 840, Servo 1, LTV 1200, and 3100A
• Proficient in ABG interpretation and arterial/capillary sampling techniques
• Telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKG acquisition skills
• Effective leadership and communication as a charge RT
• Ability to prioritize and triage across multiple units and patient populations
• Comfortable mentoring and precepting new staff during orientation shifts
