Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide excellent pre-op nursing care: assess, prepare, educate, and support patients prior to procedures
• Deliver attentive PACU care: monitor recovery, manage pain and medications, and ensure safe handoffs
• Rotate between MMC pre-op/PACU and ORSC recovery as needed to support patient flow
• Perform rapid patient assessments and intervene appropriately for changes in condition
• Interpret ECG rhythms and respond to life-threatening rhythms as an RN (not a monitor tech)
• Operate and monitor RT and ventilation equipment when ICU-level patients recover in PACU
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech EMR and support hybrid paper charting workflows
• Collaborate with charge nurses, managers, and multidisciplinary team members to maintain safe nurse:patient ratios

Qualifications

• Active RN license or eligible for Oregon 90-day emergency license at time of submittal
• Current BLS and ACLS required; PALS preferred
• Experience with Meditech EMR (MMC uses Meditech; ORSC uses a mix of Meditech and paper charting)
• Experience in Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery required
• Comfortable with PACU ratios (1:1, 1:2, 1:3) and pre-op ratios (1:2)
• Prior PACU, pre-op, or perioperative nursing experience (preferred 1+ year in similar settings)
• Ability to read ECG strips and respond to dysrhythmias promptly
• Strong patient assessment, medication administration, and perioperative nursing skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing practices including pre-op assessment and PACU care
• Medication administration and post-anesthesia recovery management
• ECG rhythm recognition and basic dysrhythmia management
• Ventilation/RT equipment familiarity and basic ventilator management in recovery situations
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR and hybrid charting workflows
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and adaptability while floating between units
