Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care for labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum patients
- Perform fetal monitoring and NST triage using Cerner Fetal Links and FHM tools
- Assess maternal and fetal status, escalate concerns, and call anesthesia or OB as needed
- Serve as charge nurse/triage resource when assigned, coordinating patient flow and staffing
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including anesthesia, RT, pharmacy, and Stanford NICU staff
- Document care accurately in Cerner PowerChart and maintain clear communication with patients and families
- Support lactation care planning and educate new families on postpartum and newborn care
- Contribute to unit safety practices including the infant security system and couplet care ratios
Qualifications
- Current California RN license (required)
- BLS required; NRP and/or ACLS preferred or able to obtain
- Experience in OB/GYN, labor & delivery, maternal-child health or related area preferred
- Comfortable with fetal heart monitoring and Cerner PowerChart / Cerner Fetal Links
- Strong critical thinking, time management, teamwork, and communication skills
- Willingness to float to postpartum as part of unit rotation
- Ability to work the scheduled rotation including every-other-weekend coverage
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient with Cerner PowerChart and Cerner Fetal Links
- Fetal heart monitoring and non-stress test (NST) expertise
- Triage and charge nurse skills, including patient prioritization
- Lactation care planning and newborn security procedures
- Comfort working with diverse populations and using translation resources
- Team collaboration, clear communication, and patient education
