Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and instruments for CVOR, cardiac and endovascular procedures
• Assist surgeons and the perioperative team during open heart, vascular, thoracic and general surgical cases
• Perform perioperative duties including instrument passes, sponge counts and equipment checks with precision
• Chart perioperative care in EPIC and ensure accurate documentation throughout the case
• Float to General OR when needed and adapt quickly to a variety of surgical specialties including neuro, spine, robotics and ortho
• Respond to call within the facility 30-minute window and use the call room when available
• Participate in unit-specific and CVOR orientation to become a confident member of the team

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA required
• BLS (AHA) required
• CO DORA certification required for Colorado practice
• Minimum 2 years surgical tech experience; CVOR or cardiovascular experience preferred
• Demonstrated open heart and endovascular experience required
• Valid driver license and ability to meet 60-mile radius requirement for assignment
• Ability to float to General OR and cover multiple specialties as needed

Education

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• BLS (AHA) required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong sterile technique and perioperative skills
• Familiarity with EPIC charting system
• Experience with CVOR workflow and instrumentation
• Comfortable assisting in robotics, neuro, spine, vascular and thoracic cases
• Excellent communication and teamwork in high-acuity environments
• Able to handle fast-paced case turnover in a busy suite environment
