Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality clinical services in the Healthcare for the Homeless primary care program, partnering closely with providers and clinic staff
• Perform thorough patient assessments and document care clearly and accurately in a timely manner
• Assist providers and anticipate clinical needs to ensure efficient, patient-centered care
• Maintain medication inventory and manage supplies not on the Warehouse PAR system
• Perform point-of-care quality control checks and specimen collection with attention to detail
• Adhere to infection control policies, maintain a safe clinical environment, and report equipment or safety issues
• Participate in mandatory training, in-services, and staff meetings to maintain competencies and certifications
• Support coworkers through teaching, mentoring, and collaborative problem solving

Qualifications

• Active, full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska (required at time of submittal)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Proof of flu vaccination as required by the clinic
• Minimum 2 years of primary care nursing experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to complete fingerprinting for SEARHC processing in a timely manner prior to start
• Capacity to lift/move up to 50 lbs and perform frequent standing, walking, and manual tasks
• Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and ambulatory care nursing
• Clinical documentation and electronic charting
• Infection control principles and safety practices
• Specimen collection and point-of-care testing procedures
• Medication inventory management
• Experience working with vulnerable populations, such as Healthcare for the Homeless
• Proficient use of medical equipment and computers
• Customer service, teaching/mentoring, and collaborative problem solving
