Shift Type: Variable/rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights) — 8-, 10- or 12-hour shifts; typical night block: 3x12-hour nights, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM; call required Monday-Friday, 9:00 PM - 6:30 AM; weekend coverage windows include 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 6:30 AM; holiday and weekend coverage may be required

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative care during surgical procedures in a Level 1 trauma OR
• Circulate and/or scrub on a variety of cases including orthopedic, neurosurgery, spine and general surgery
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists and the perioperative team to ensure seamless patient care
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in EPIC
• Support trauma activations and high-acuity cases with calm, confident clinical decision-making
• Assist with robotics, laparoscopic and transplant procedures as needed
• Participate in unit float assignments and help maintain staffing coverage across the OSU organization

Qualifications

• Current RN license in good standing (ability to work in Ohio required)
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room RN experience
• Experience in a Level 1 trauma center preferred
• Proficiency with EPIC for charting and documentation
• BCLS (required) and BLS/NIHSS preferred
• Comfortable working variable shifts, nights, call, weekends and holidays
• Ability to scrub and circulate across a broad mix of surgical specialties (orthopedics, neuro, trauma, general)

• Perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Circulating and scrub role expertise
• Trauma and high-acuity intraoperative care
• Familiarity with robotic and laparoscopic surgical workflows
• Strong team communication and situational awareness in the OR
• EPIC charting and perioperative documentation best practices
• Flexibility to float to other units and adapt to varied case volumes
