Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality medical-surgical nursing care across multiple units, including Medical, Laulima (surgical acute), and occasional Cardiovascular coverage
• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop appropriate nursing interventions
• Manage wound care and wound vac therapy with attention to best practices and documentation
• Safely manage chest tubes and related post-operative care
• Administer medications accurately and document using Meditech EMR and Pyxis systems
• Float between units with adaptability and a teamwork mindset to meet patient care needs
• Communicate clearly with interdisciplinary teams and contribute to patient-centered care plans
• Maintain professional nursing attire and uphold unit standards and infection control practices

Qualifications

• Active Hawaii Registered Nurse (RN) license required by start of assignment (travelers must obtain State of HI license upon offer acceptance)
• BLS required
• ACLS required
• 2-10 years of relevant nursing experience (medical-surgical experience preferred)
• Preferred certifications: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC
• Comfortable floating between medical and surgical units and occasional Cardiovascular coverage

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical-surgical nursing fundamentals and patient assessment
• Wound care and wound vac management
• Chest tube management and postoperative monitoring
• Meditech EMR documentation proficiency
• Pyxis medication system experience
• Medication administration and safe practice
• Ability to adapt quickly in a float/pool role across units
• Strong teamwork, communication, and clinical judgment
