Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry continuously and sign rhythm strips at least once per shift
• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with CHF, respiratory issues, GI conditions, diabetes, post-cath care, and total joint replacements
• Deliver safe respiratory support using BiPAP/CPAP and coordinate breathing treatments with respiratory therapy
• Administer and manage set-rate drips (e.g., Diltiazem/Cardizem) per unit protocol
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner and complete required orientation/charting hours
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including monitor techs, charge nurses, and house supervisors to ensure safe patient flow
• Float to East Campus or PCU when qualified, maintaining flexibility and unit coverage
• Participate in schedule planning and adhere to weekend and holiday staffing requirements

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of practice)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience
• Ability to pass the dysrhythmia exam (must score 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing)
• Cerner experience recommended due to limited orientation time
• Experience reading basic telemetry strips and some experience with CVA/TIA care
• Willingness to float to East Campus/PCU if qualified and to follow unit-specific policies (radius rule applies)

Education

• ADN or Nursing Diploma acceptable (BSN not required)
• Completion of required unit orientation and 12 hours of orientation/charting as specified

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry and ECG interpretation skills including dysrhythmia recognition
• Familiarity with acute care diagnoses: CHF, respiratory illnesses, post-cath patients, diabetes, and total joint replacement care
• Comfortable with Cerner electronic charting and quick orientation environments
• Experience working with CPAP/BiPAP and coordinating respiratory care
• Solid critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills in a fast-paced acute setting
• Ability to follow protocols for set-rate drips and unit-specific processes
