Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess intermediate acuity patients with excellent attention to detail
• Administer medications and therapies safely and accurately
• Interpret telemetry and other monitoring data to quickly identify changes in condition
• Collaborate with physicians, multidisciplinary team members, and support staff for cohesive patient care
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly in the medical record
• Respond to patient needs and emergent situations with composure and clinical skill
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
• Contribute to unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligible for licensure
• SDU (step-down/intermediate care) experience preferred; acute care experience welcomed
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and telemetry interpretation skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Basic proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation

Education

• ADN or BSN in Nursing (BSN preferred when available)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Patient assessment and early recognition of clinical deterioration
• Medication administration and IV therapy fundamentals
• Care coordination and effective handoff communication
• Clinical documentation best practices
• Prioritization, critical thinking, and time management in an intermediate acuity setting
