Roles & Responsibilities

Prepare pediatric patients for surgery by performing pre-op assessments and ensuring comfort and safety
Collaborate with surgical teams and anesthesia to coordinate smooth operating room flow
Monitor and document vital signs and patient status during the pre-op period
Provide compassionate education and reassurance to patients and families about pre-op procedures
Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record documentation
Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to protect patients and staff

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri or compact state privilege as applicable
Experience in pediatrics and pre-operative nursing preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) required; PALS or pediatric certifications preferred
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
Ability to perform focused pediatric assessments and provide family-centered care

Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing or BSN). BSN preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric patient assessment and age-appropriate communication
Familiarity with pre-op procedures, safety checks, and documentation
Ability to triage and escalate concerns to surgical and anesthesia teams
Comfortable using electronic medical records and standard clinical documentation
Calm, organized approach to fast-paced pre-op environments
