Shift Type: 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (day) or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (night); primarily nights per job posting. 3 shifts per week required (36 hours/week guaranteed). Includes two weekend shifts per pay period. Option to schedule 4 shifts/week upon discussion. Nights are first to float.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality acute and post-operative cardiac nursing care for Progressive Care Unit patients
• Continuously monitor and interpret telemetry and EKGs to identify dysrhythmias and changes in condition
• Administer IV cardiac medications and manage advanced cardiac therapies such as transvenous pacing
• Manage respiratory support for chronic ventilator and BiPAP/CPAP patients
• Perform and manage invasive line care including arterial lines, sheaths, and chest tube care
• Deliver peritoneal dialysis support and care for patients with renal disease
• Safely manage epidural catheters, PCA pumps, and other analgesia devices
• Document care accurately in Cerner EMR and use unit systems like Pyxis and cardiac monitors
• Collaborate with hospitalists, cath lab, surgical teams, and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate patient care
• Actively participate in unit orientation and continuing education to maintain clinical competency

Qualifications

• Active and in good standing Arizona RN license
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Minimum of 1 year of PCU or stepdown experience; job posting lists 2 years of experience as the required years of experience
• Comfortable with EKG interpretation and telemetry monitoring
• Experience administering IV cardiac medications and managing transvenous pacing
• Experience with peritoneal dialysis, chronic ventilator care, chest tube and epidural catheter management
• Experience with PCA pumps and arterial or venous sheath care/pulls
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR and common unit equipment

Education

• BSN not required per posting
• ADN or Diploma in Nursing acceptable
• Active RN license in Arizona required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and EKG rhythm recognition
• IV cardiac medication administration and titration
• Care of post-operative cardiac surgery and cath lab patients including STEMI/NSTEMI care
• Management of chronic vents, BiPAP/CPAP initiation, and ventilator support
• Peritoneal dialysis and renal disease patient care
• Invasive line and sheath care, chest tube management, and epidural catheter management
• Experience with Cerner EMR, Philips cardiac monitors, Medtronic pacemakers, Pyxis, Zoll monitors, and Sigma IV pumps
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and teamwork in a fast-paced cardiac environment
