Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adults in the Progressive Care Unit
• Maintain appropriate patient assignments, working with the expected PCU ratios
• Perform IV starts and manage peripheral and central lines with skill and safety
• Monitor telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond promptly to changes in condition
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Epic
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, pharmacy, and support staff for coordinated care
• Support pre- and post-transplant and dialysis care needs as part of the unit population
• Float to other units of equivalent or lower acuity when needed to support patient care

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of PCU/stepdown experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Proven competency with IV starts, line care, and telemetry monitoring
• Proficiency with Epic for charting and documentation
• Willingness to float within comparable units and cover occasional weekends and holidays
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred but not required
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Progressive Care/stepdown nursing practices
• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• IV therapy: starts, maintenance, PICC and peripheral line care
• Central line and blood product administration experience
• Pre/post hemodialysis and renal/transplant patient care familiarity
• Feeding tube management and post-op transplant care basics
• Non-invasive airway management and basic respiratory support
• Comfortable using Epic for documentation and care coordination
